Korean Rice Bowl
This is one of the quickest and easiest meals I've made in a while. The rich Asian flavors are everything you’d want in a rice bowl. Use whatever ground meat you have on hand.
What you'll need: Serves 4
1.5 cups jasmine rice, cooked
1 pound ground beef, turkey, pork, etc.
2 Tbsp oyster sauce
4 Tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp rice wine vinegar
1 tsp sesame seed oil
1 tsp honey
1 tsp ground ginger
Optional toppings:
sliced green onion or chives
toasted sesame seeds
How to make it:
Rinse your rice in a fine mesh strainer for about a minute, or until the water runs clear. Dump into a saucepan with water and cook according to the directions on the package.
In a large skillet, brown the ground turney over medium heat, breaking it down into small chunks.
Add in all of the other ingredients (except the cooking rice) and stir to combine.
Taste and adjust if needed. Balance out the salty flavors with more honey.
Turn off the heat and cover to keep warm until the rice is fully cooked.
Assemble into a bowl and garnish with chopped green onions and *toasted sesame seeds.
*In a small skillet, pour in about 2 Tablespoons of sesame seeds and toast over medium heat, stirring and swirling occasionally for 30 seconds to 1 minute - just until they've changed a little color from white to golden. If they burn they'll be bitter, so watch them closely!
Enjoy!
