Juicy Lucy & Burger Sauce
A "Juicy Lucy", originated in Minneapolis, is a cheeseburger with cheese inside the meat instead of on top, resulting in a melted core of cheese. To make your burger spill with oozing hot melty cheese is such a luxurious way to eat it. Top that with a decadent sawce and you've got yourself a killer combination.
What you'll need: Makes 4 burgers
4 oz block cheddar, shredded
For the burger patties:
1.5 pounds of ground beef
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika
For the burger sauce:
2 Tbsp mayo
1 Tbsp ketchup
1 Tbsp pickle juice from the jar
A few gentle shakes (~1/8 tsp) of:
garlic powder
onion powder
paprika
How to make it:
Get your grill roaring hot. Mix the ground beef, bread crumbs and all of the called-for seasonings in a mixing bowl. Use your fingers like a fork and combine.
Score the meat into four equal sections. Grab a section and break it into two. Flatten into two thin patties.
Hand shred half a block of cheddar; divide into 4 portions. Add cheese to the center of one patty. Lay the second patty over the other, pressing the edges to seal in the cheese.
If you have a grill plate, use it. It's become an essential item for grilling in our home. This'll help keep all of the juices and melty cheese right where it should be: in your burger! They should grill up in just a few quick minutes. About 4 minutes on each side.
Mix up the sauce and enjoy it over your burger and with a side of fries!
